Why does this president get no respect? Today I heard a Hispanic radio announcer refer to him as the “monkey President”. The image above is brought to you by the Republican party of Montanta. We have seen Congressman Joe Wilson call him a lie on the House floor. Friday we saw a Daily Caller website writer interupt him while he was giving a statement in the Rose Garden. We have seen members of congress question his birth certificate and his right to occupy the White House. What’s next? Nothing seems off limits or over the line. Share your thoughts.
“Obama Outhouse”…is this simply politics as usual?

The uneducated people of America are generally terribly crude and very disrespectable. America has changed drasticaly since the hippie generation changed all the good values America had at one time. America was at its best during World War II when everyone worked together for a better country. To disrespect Obama is digusting, at least he’s trying. Not like G.W. Bush who ruined our country financially (Clinton left a huge budget surplus) and killed our young people with his stupid wars. Watch up you Westerners. Don’t support the Republican wreckers of our country who are blocking every good Obama is trying to do.
>>Don’t support the Republican wreckers of our country who are blocking every good Obama is trying to do.<<
Conqueror, please tell me a few 'good' things Obama is 'trying to do' for this country. By 'good' I mean actions that make sense financially, will not further deepen our deficit, are not based on an emotional appeal to a specific electoral group, and enjoy bilateral support with mainstream America. The issue is JOBS. Obama has done precious little to facilitate an environment where jobs can be created by the private sector. Get the unemployment rate down to 5% and then he can delve into social engineering and abasing this nation abroad; people won't care as much because they'll be working.
Elogam: you’re such a fussbot! You’re always ready with a comment/answer on Joni’s blog. If the Republicans let PRESIDENT Obama do his job instead of blocking every thing he tries to accomplish, maybe we would get somewhere. Immediately after Obama’s inauguration, Boehner’s assistant said it was the duty of the Republcans to prevent Obama from being reelected.. That’s a shameful attitude and doesn’t help our country. I’m a white U.S. Army veteran who served my country and support Obama. What are your qualifications? How does anyone expect any U.S. president to create jobs? Is he supposed to give all the unemployed people jobs in his home
Why? One word: race. End of story. Everything else is window dressing.
Exactly!
Deacon Don, is is possible that people are unhappy with things the president had done in office, and they therefore don’t like him? There are black religious leaders who have stated they will not support him because of his stance on gay marriage. Are they racists too? There are black small business leaders who feel he hasn’t done enough to provide an environment of stability that will allow them to expand their businesses. They are not happy with him. Are they racist as well?
Presidents of late have not been revered as they were 50 years ago. Kennedy was the last one that was adored. Nixon, Carter, Reagan, yes even Clinton, all were charactured and called names and portrayed in demeaning manner while in office. GWB was portrayed as a chimp so many times, it’s pathetic. How many times have you seen the cartoon labeled “Curious George” where Bush is portrayed side by side with a chimpanzee? I will concede some of the animus is based on skin color. But the VAST majority is not. I know it’s comforting to think it’s that simple, but most of mainstream America is more sophisticated than that.
All that you say is undoubtedly true, but I would argue that there is a fundamental issue underlying all of the normal disrespect that political leaders are subject to; a review of historical political cartoons shows that disrespect is not anything new.
A search for the offensive term “nigger president” will yield 25,000 to 36,000 results, depending on the search engine. This is as ugly a use of language as there can be in today’s society, and yet it is in common use in public by those who genuinely hate Obama for his race. The Birther movement, with all the intellectual depth of the Flat Earth Society, continue to push a proven dead argument.
I have watched American presidents since the Eisenhower era, and I have never seen the degree of racism in the US political theatre as I see today. I pray for your country.
I am quite suprised that a Hispanic person would offer insults especially and because President Obama is basically putting all of his eggs into the Hispanic basket through the numerous policies that he has created for the Hispanic Community to the detriment of African Americans. As an example I would refer you to the President’s Executive Order Number 13555. In addition, many African American children are now being denied access to Head Start Programs where the child must be a “spanish speaker” only. I am also not suprised that many people tend top view many of the President’s policies and subjective interpretations of the Constitution as repreentive of things that should rightly be flushed down the toilet. As an Independent, it seems that there is an underthought that it is permissible for one certain Party to denegrate, throw insults, and create an unhealthy political atmosphere, but on the other hand, it is “appaling” and “reprehensible” when the other Party does the same.; Therefore, in my Independent Opinion: that which is good for the Goose” is also good for the Gander” as the saying goes.
EB you make some great points, but I would caution you from thinking that all Hispanics think alike politically. I know of several Hispanics who are NOT happy with the president’s actions for various reasons. Some look at his actions to erase the southern border as detrimental to their hard work to assimilate into US culture. Others are small business owners who don’t agree with him that the private sector is “doing just fine” and resent him insisting they “pay their fair share” in taxes when they’re already footing most of the bill. I do not condone referring to him as a “monkey president”; maybe it’s cultural.
Elogram, I did not address all of undebated issues in my original response, and you are more than correct and accurate in your comment that all Hispanics do not think alkie politically, and this is why President Obama’s calcualted belief that all Hispanics will vote for him based on this and other “new” Executive Orders. In fact, most Hispanics that I know are quite conservative in their thinking and have continuously analyzed President Obama’s leadership, The reality of the situation is that President Obama can now be called the “I Will Do And Say Anything To Get A Vote” President, and after the election those who blindly vote based purely on “Race” and “Political Party” lines will join those in the African American Community who “Have His Back”,because his backside is all that we have seen of him–until now, and we won’t see him again if he wins.
EM, this harkens back to the days when Andrew Jackson’s picture was placed on the bottom of a spittoon and another president (sorry, I don’t recall which one and Google’s not helping) was featured on the inside of a bedpan. Politics is not for the faint of heart.
Maybe four more years in office will allow President Obama to freely answer some of this non-sense. Yes we have free speech in this country but doesn’t that also apply to the president?
In my opinion the time to freely answer this “nonsense” is now, unless of course the “nonsense” is true.
Jeez Elogam, I am suprised that you do not like Obama and would have thought that he is favouring everyone else to the expense of his own people. He certainly is not doing anything for the Black community other than to offend it, and he’s certainly not doing anything for Africa (and that includes his father;s place Kenya. Remember, a year ago, when he visited the African continent he shocked Kenyans by deciding not to visit Kenya). But I guess one shouldn’t be surprised at this. We always knew that if he tried to do anything for Blacks, everyone and I mean everyone would down on him like a shot. I was amazed at the blog responses when Obama made a comment against a police officer who wrongly arrested an African American prof. He had to go to the point of inviting the officer (and the prof) to the White House for a beer. But if it were Bush, Clinton Bush Snr etc, can you imagine anyone of them doing something like this if it were the other way round?
