Pregnant Chicago woman Tasered by the Police

Pregnant mom Tiffany Rent of Chicago says she was tased by a Chicago policeman. She admits that the policeman gave her a ticket that she tore up and the policeman said that she was attempting to flee the scene and that she also used expletives in addressing the policeman, but should the cop have used the taser on the visibly pregnant woman. The answer is no but policeman have authority and when someone spits (not literally) in the face of authority they must be prepared for the repercussions of those actions. Read the linked story and share your thoughts.

    Let me get this straight.

A person, in this case, a woman, was approached by a police representative and was told she was doing something inappropriate.

    He gave her a ticket.

    She a) tore it up

    b) cursed at him (used explettives) and

    c) tried to flee the scene.

    Right. Got it.

And you don’t think she should have been tasered.

So, what do you think? He should have just shot her?

You realize that was his only other alternative, right?

At what point do people like this–like this woman–think the world owes them some other, special treatment, anyway?

    And you’re defending her?

    On what basis, exactly?

    Because she’s a woman?

    Or pregnant?

    Or black, or what?

What the heck was the police person supposed to do? Kiss her and send a note home to her mother?

Seriously, you have to be kidding.

Bullshit. He (or she) did what they had to do.

And she should have known far better.

I hope she’s in jail for a long time.

Does respecting authority mean anything to her?

    To you?

    Holy cow.

The rest of us law-abiding people out here totally don’t understand her–or your–line of thinking.

Seriously, no sarcasm, please explain her reasoning, if you can, and your own because the rest of us just don’t get it..

No, I am not defending her she set the wheels in motion. Her blatant disrespect for authority led to the actions of the police. I am no propoent of tasing, but I will say tasing a pregnant woman does not sit right with me. No, she is no victim her behavior was aggressive and the policman had to subdue her. So rest assured I am not defending her behavior. I don’t simply defend every black person no matter what they do. You’ve been reading this blog long enough to know that.

It’s just that you said the cop shouldn’t have tasered her. I think the only other thing he or she could have done after that would be tackle her and that’s hardly a good thing for a pregnant woman, either.

Odds favor that she and her ♂friend will not do that again.

Had they received good parenting years ago , none of this would have happened .

A smile + an “oops!” would have helped.

Once the the ticket is written , there are civil ways to dispute the ticket .

She exacerbated the situation to the point where the officer took prompt , decisive action to stop her apparent escape attempt .

She basically left them with no options. Some accounts said the policemen taunted her after she was tasered. I have a problem with that. Had she just taken the ticket and left when she was done shopping it wouldn’t have happened and she wouldn’t have to be “in pain and fearful for her baby”. There are rules in life for a reason and they do apply to all of us!
