Is it fair to slam Mitt Romney for a plan that never launched?

“The plan, which is awaiting approval, calls for running commercials linking Mr. Obama to incendiary comments by his former spiritual adviser, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., whose race-related sermons made him a highly charged figure in the 2008 campaign. “The world is about to see Jeremiah Wright and understand his influence on Barack Obama for the first time in a big, attention-arresting way,” says the proposal, which was overseen by Fred Davis and commissioned by Joe Ricketts, the founder of the brokerage firm TD Ameritrade. Mr. Ricketts is increasingly putting his fortune to work in conservative politics. The $10 million plan, one of several being studied by Mr. Ricketts, includes preparations for how to respond to the charges of race-baiting it envisions if it highlights Mr. Obama’s former ties to Mr. Wright, who espouses what is known as “black liberation theology. The group suggested hiring as a spokesman an “extremely literate conservative African-American” who can argue that Mr. Obama misled the nation by presenting himself as what the proposal calls a “metrosexual, black Abe Lincoln.” This plan was never implemented it was presented but yesterday Mitt Romney denounced the plan and Joe Ricketts, super pac contributor has said it was never to be used. So how much responsibilty does a candidate have for their supporters? A few weeks ago the Democrats were forced to apologize for statements made by Hilary Rosen? Was that fair? is this fair? The question is not so much whether Romeny is responsible for the crazy supporters he attracts, but whether the crazy supporters he attracts is somehow emblematic of the man, his policies and the Presidency he wants us to elect him to.

In fairness, it didn’t happen, but how much as a result of the leaked publicity. If it hadn’t come out now, ahead of implementation, would they have done it? It’s highly likely, and after the fact, do you think Romney would have disavowed it? I doubt it, because he’s already on record implying that Obama was influenced by his Pastor of 20 years, Wright. So he couldn’t back off that message, without refreshing the etch-a-sketch.

I believe that after seeing the results of this ad before it got out, then and only then did Romney put a halt to it. When it comes down to it, everyone and everybody will see throughout the debates and the ads that will follow, that this race, from their view can only be won, by demeaning Obama, not the Votes., but the man. Trust me and they know this, that the way things are going, by September, the economy will be so robust, and jobs will open to those who want one, and the state of America is so strong that Obama will be set up to win by a large percentage of the votes.

Well all is fair in love and war as they say so it appears to be the same with politics. Personally I’ve never understood personal attacks and the race baiting that goes on in any election. Truly if the incumbents record or the opponents record is so awful why can’t they simply attack that? Even importantly why do people buy into it?
