Is this what Justice Looks like?

I saw this picture of Sanford citizens reacting to the news that George Zimmerman had been arrested for killing Trayvon Martin. I supposed it shows how fervently they prayed and the joy they felt when they heard the news, but it also says something more disturbing. Should it have taken 45 days to charge Zimmerman with a crime? should it have taken petitions, marches and talk show appearances for this to happen? It is good that Zimmerman will finally be held accountable, but it should not have taken all of this to get simple justice.

I submit that all of that had little to do with the pressing of charges. I'd say the conducting of a competent, non-partisan, deliberate investigation into the matter (which they were doing before this became a national media event) led to the filing of charges. Doubt me? Tell me then: what would hold up better in front of a judge? a stack of petitions or the results of an investigation showing the case has merit?
