Herman Cain compares tax code to slavery, is this a fair comparison?

Should anything be compared to slavery? Presidential candidate Herman Cain is making the comparison. What do you think about it? Tell me what you think.

Is there something about slavery that is so sacrosanct that is beyond compare?
I can think of no more apt comparison than that which Herman Cain makes. Let’s look at what slavery really is. It is the confiscation of ones productivity or labor by force. Similarly, taxation is the confiscation of the product of ones labor; by force if necessary.

Here in America we tend to only think of ‘slavery’ in the context of the American practice. Slavery existed from the beginning of recorded time and goes on to this very day. The institution is used to compare someone’s condition in life frequently. The Bible itself says that “…The borrower is slave to the lender”. (Proverbs 22:7). In this case, Cain is no doubt referring to the fact that The feds use the tax system to control us in ways we have no way to prevent. I’ve advocated a flat tax or a consumption tax for years. Being “poor” (and we Americans have some of the richest ‘poor’ people in the world) is not an excuse for not paying into the system. Poor people need the protection of the military too. They need roads, schools, you name it. His flat 9% tax on everyone would put a lot of IRS agents and CPAs out of work, but it would make our lives easier, and freer.
