I’m not surprised by the tenor of the article. I recall posting on this site that Snerdly was black about two years ago. The article starts out by taking Beck to task for telling blacks that they are “Americans”; that their great-great-great grandfathers were from Africa. Why is the truth such a bad thing? ESPECIALLY when he acknowledged that America “sucked” for blacks for a long time! Then the author lights into Limbaugh and Snerdly, using the typical “house negro” characterizations that typically prevail when a black conservative is the topic of conversation. Most Blacks, (present bloggers excluded) cannot fathom that sincere, intelligent people of color can look at their world around them, decide that liberalism is not in their best interest, and opt for conservative principles. Instead, they will insist that they are “sellouts”, “oreos”, or filled with “self-loathing”. It’s a knee-jerk response that requires no deep thought or real investigation.
Sadly, the comments of the story were predictable. The few conservatives that tried to make logical, cogent points were flamed and attacked by name-calling rubes who could not give logical, cogent counter points. I tell my teenage son to know what he believes and WHY. I also tell him to be willing to change his mind if the facts justify it. Apparently it’s more important for these folks to stay “on the plantation” than it is to present a non-emotional retort to someone who disagrees with them.
