Mark Halperin appears on Morning Joe quite frequently. This morning he said the president acted like a “dick” at his press conference yesterday. He has apologized and he has been suspended for his remark. So is that the end of it? His remark is being treated as a slip of the tongue and absent of real malice, but are we too quick to move on from this because of who said it? Let’s say it was Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck would we simply accept the apology and move on or would we be calling for his head. Do we have one ruler for conservatives and another for liberals? Tell me what you think.

Do we have one rule for conservatives and another for liberals?
Yes, we do.
That you would ask the question is indicative of how egregious the double standard is.
Of course we do. The media is run by liberal jews.Yet of all people they should not be liberal, they are all idiots.
There is no Moral Equivalency here… Glen Beck & Rush Limbaugh continually espouse drivel and hatred about and toward Obama. If they had said it, there would be no doubt about their intent. Halperin, on the other hand said Obama acted like a Dick, which is not the same as calling him a Dick.
>>Do we have one ruler for conservatives and another for liberals?<<
I assume the question is rhetorical…?
Kudos to Mr. Halperin. Today he said what many Americans thought about the President’s demeanor during his most recent press conference. It’s calling him out on his arrogance. Perhaps he could have chosen a different description, but Mark certainly expressed what he viewed as a President being very demeaning.
Funny thing is, Bush was called worse names than this by media folks and we never saw any of them chastised for their remarks.
Mark has the character and just plain “guts” to speak the truth. It’s about time, and I, and many Americans, applaud what he did.
The man is a hero. Don’t suspend him, give him a promotion!
Sincerely,
A West Coast Independent
I though you guys had freedom of speech over there?? NO???
Dick, we do indeed have freedom of speech here in America. It’s one of our most cherished rights. Along with that right goes responsibility. In this case Halperin is finding out about the ‘responsibility’ side of the equation. I have the right to walk up to a muscle-bound bodybuilder or a cruiser weight boxer and tell him his mamma’s ugly. Exercising my free speech rights in that manner may be hazardous to my health.
Many musicians and entertainers have the same misconception that they can say whatever they want and not expect people to react negatively. The Dixie Chicks whined horribly when people boycotted them and their music after they went overseas and bad mouthed the president. They had that right, and the people who boycotted them afterward had the right to not buy their records.
doesn’t matter what president obama does, says, try to do, america will never give him any respect and it’s all because he’s a black man in the white house- case closed!
It’s too bad all those white folks who put Obama in office didn’t realize that he was a Black man when they elected him. Give it a rest.
Wait! Obama’s a black man?!? I was just opposed to him because he spends wildly, doesn’t have enough executive experience to hold his current position, has no military experience and is the Commander-in-Chief during time of war, hasn’t had a ‘real’ job in the private sector and yet wants to affect the course of this nation’s economy, said on camera that he wants to “spread the wealth around” when Joe the Plumber talked to him, wants to dictate how I get my medical care, is looking for a way to march illegals across the border and straight into the voting booth to pull the lever for his party, wants to structure Israel’s borders so she is indefensible, and he’s left-handed. Now you tell me he’s black! j1999, I would suggest you really need to get a more sophisticated view of life in general, and politics in particular.
“Wa, wa, wa,” they cry. What if? What if republicans toted guns to the president’s rallies? What if republicans opposed everything the president stood for after they’d previously supported it? What if republicans who receive medicare, gov’t grants and food stamps called the president a socialist? Oh yea, they did; the sky did not fall in and they still have freedom of speech. Grow up, people; it’s politics.
