Nothing good comes from using the word hang when referencing a black man. Mitt Romney said he wanted to “hang a misery index” around the president’s neck. He caught himself and assured the crowd he was using hang in the metaphorical sense. Watch the video and tell me what you think.
David Letterman said that Donald Trump is using racist tactics in his assault on President Obama. Letterman made this statement while interviewing Dr. Phil last night. I applaud Letterman for stating what few in the media will say. Trump has gone from being slightly amusing to being blatantly racist and he should be called out on it. Thanks Dave.
CBS veteran reporter Bob Schieffer is a southern gentleman who has lived through the era of segregation. On yesterday’s CBS News broadcast he accused Donald Trump of “peddling racism”. This was a pivotal momemt. Far too often when black people call out racism it is dismissed. Some say oh you are too sensitive, but it is encouraging to see veteran journalists like Schieffer take a stand and call this lunancy what it really is.

Freed slaves used to have to carry their freedom papers wherever they went. Any white man could ask to see them to validate his freedom. Sadly that is what it felt like yesterday when the President had to present his birth certificate. Never in the history of this country has any other president had to do this. Now some of his critics are saying why didn’t he do it earlier. My mother always told me to never try to disprove a lie but that would be classified as old rules. New rules and new media dictate that you have to address a lie and that is what the president did yesterday. Now that the White House has released the long form of the president’s birth certificate we can call this matter closed. Wrong. How many times has the president had to say he is not a Muslim? Some Americans believe he is a Muslim and some believe he is not a citizen. There is simply nothing that he can say or do to change their minds. He is not fit or qualified to be president. Why does he have to continually try to convince the unconvincible? There is a sustained continual effort to delegitimize this president and a lot of it has to do with race. Some will say oh please don’t play the race card. This is no card game this is reality. I never thought after he was elected he would have to devote so much attention to restating his qualifications for the job. It was interesting this morning at his press statement the president said we do not have time for sideshow barkers, and that is an apt description of Donald Trump. Trump is a bully. He is a loudmouth and an attention hog, and he has used these attributes to talk to the masses. Now that the birth certificate has been released he has now moved on to criticize the president’s Ivy League education. Trump won’t be stopped by the facts, but the issue is bigger than Donald Trump. If he did not get the attention from the media that he has garnered he would have exited the stage long ago, but the media is constantly looking for a story and this is one they will not let go. The Republican establishment is not pushing this story they actually are trying to talk about issues, but that is not what the media wants to talk about. When was the last time you saw a story about Mitt Romney or for that matter Sarah Palin? Trump and his comb over have swept the other candidates off the radar. This country is actively involved in three wars, gas is over $4 a gallon, food prices are going up everyday and unemployment numbers are through the roof and what are we fixated on? Is the President of the United States a true American? This is not a reality show this is the real world, and we’ve got real problems that need to be solved and listening to a sideshow barker is not the answer.
Donald Trump has won this one. The White House is producing the president’s birth certificate. Didn’t he already do this during the election? Trump is taking credit for forcing the president’s hand, and the reality is Trump the reality star has trumped the president. He is forced to restate what he has already done. He is an American. He is the president and some folks can not deal with it. I am sick of Trump being given a microphone and allowed to go on and on with his allegations. Trump will not stop. This issue gives him press and that is what he wants and he will continue to get as he sounds the trumpet to his troop of birthers.
I am so sick of the 24/7 coverage of the Royal Wedding. You would think we were still a colony. Neilson announced that there will be more American journalists covering the wedding than English. The press is obsessed with this event. Will her hair be up or down, will she wear a tiara or flowers, will her black sheep uncle behave? Enough already. I am not going to say there are more important stories to cover that goes without saying. The wedding is news, but nothing deserves the kind of coverage this event is getting. Monday I turned on MSNBC Morning Joe in search of some political news and there sat Mika and Joe in London talking about the wedding. There is no escape so I can not wait for Friday to get here so this can finally be over. Tell me are you interested in the royal wedding?
Some are speculating that this Budweiser commercial has a gay theme. “The ad, which is viewer-restricted on YouTube, shows a soldier calling a man and saying, “it’s me. I’m coming home.” It then shows a split screen, with the soldier getting ready to go home and the man preparing a party for him. At the end of the ad, the man is at the front of a group of people welcoming the soldier home, and the two hug. All of this got the site After Elton wondering if Budweiser had essentially crafted the first-ever post-Don’t Ask Don’t Tell gay military ad. “Is the commercially (sic) intentionally gay or not?” the site mused. “Well, only Budweiser knows for sure, but if you substituted a woman for PB, it would read pretty much exactly like a heterosexual relationship.”* Watch the commercial and tell me what you think.
