Mitrice Richardson Might Be Alive, but is she well?

Last year I wrote 3 posts about Mitrice Richardson. In September she was arrested for not having enough money to pay a resteraunt bill. She was released from an LA county jail in the middle of the night and had not been see since. Her disappearance did not garner the kind of attention that Natalie Holloways’s did. The Today Show had her parents on once, but most of the coverage that this case received was within the blogosphere. The Associated Press is reporting that Richardson has been seen in Las Vegas. Supposedly the police have told her father that she has been working as a prosititue. Richardson is supposedly bipolar. If this is true it is great news she is alive and if she is a prostitute her friends and family can get her the help she needs.  The police have a press conference planned for tomorrow and hopefully some of our questions will be answered.

Chris Tucker owes 11 Million dollars in Back Taxes…will he be joining Wesley Snipes?

TMZ is reporting that Rush Hour star Chris Tucker owes 11 million dollars in back taxes. Wesley Snipes who also faced tax issues lost his appeal and he will be going to prison for 3 years do to his tax issues, but how do tax debts get to this amount? A friend of mine is a single woman who helped take care of her two parents who are currently in nursing homes had some tax issues. The IRS were all over her like she was Al Capone. She lives under the constant threat of wage garnishment. Why are our taxes so closely monitored? Another friend of mine sent in her tax payment and received a refund because they said she overpaid. She contacted them again in reference to the refund check and she was told her calculations were incorrect. A couple of years later she receives a letter saying she should not have received the refund, and they wanted the refund check back and they had tacked on penalties. The other day we found out Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts was docking his yacht in Rhode Island to avoid the taxes that he would have to pay in home state. He has since moved the yacht. So how is all of this connected? All of the people referenced demonstrate a troubling pattern. The rich and the powerful find a way around tax laws and the working man is forced to pay one way or another.

The Body of former NBA Player Lorenzen Wright found in Memphis Woods…did the Police Take His Disappearance Seriously?

Former NBA player Lorenzen Wright had last been seen July 19^th at 2AM.  His family had filed a missing person’s report on him. Initially the police did not suspect foul play, although his family was extremely worried. “Despite earning $55 million over his NBA career, Wright has had financial difficulties, and his house was foreclosed upon last May.” What were the police doing for the past 9 days?  Did the police devote their best effort in trying to find the missing young man? One has to wonder if the police don’t suspect foul play even though the family is really worried what do they do in effort to find the missing person.  Wright’s body was found in the Memphis woods yesterday at this point there are no suspects only questions.

Fox News is the Number One Cable News Outlet, but Why Aren’t Black People Watching?

I started this blog in 2008, and as most of you know I am an advocate of President Obama. I do call him out when I believe he is wrong, and I have no problem calling out those that seek to destroy or distort his policies. Periodically I receive comments that suggest I stop watching CNN and MSNBC and watch Fox News. Most people that I know can not stomach Fox news for longer than 10 minutes so I was not surprised to read the following. “The New York Times’ Brian Stelter tweeted that, according to Nielsen Media Research, Fox News has averaged just 29,000 black viewers in primetime so far this television season (9/09-7/10). That represents just 1.38% of its 2.102 million total viewer audience. CNN and MSNBC, meanwhile, both have far more black viewers, both in absolute terms and as a proportion of their overall audiences.” So why would black people watch a network where the anchor characterized the fist bump between then candidate Barack Obama and his wife “a terrorist fist jab”, the network that while interviewing conservative columnist Michelle Malkin on Michelle Obama had the caption under Mrs. Obama read “Obama’s baby mama”, the network that allowed a guest to say Osama instead of Obama and instead of correcting herself she said “kill them both and these are all incidents that happened before he was president. Today their complaint is the President does not love the Boy Scouts because he won’t attend this year’s jamboree. He is opting to be The View so this just furthers their network view point that this president does not love this country. “Every president is typically invited, though not all are able to attend. Obama’s three predecessors each made it to one Jamboree in person. President George W. Bush spoke in 2005, President Bill Clinton in 1997 and President George H.W. Bush in 1989. “* So Both President Bush and President Clinton each made one jamboree in eight years, but this president is branded for missing one and he has been in office for less than 2 years. So why aren’t black watching Fox news because it has a clear agenda and they don’t hide it. Obama bashing all day, everyday is the news of the day and we simply are not going to support that agenda. Excuse me 99% of us are not.

T.O. and Ochocinco…Dynamic Duel or Double Trouble

It is hard to believe that anyone would believe that Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco could possibly share the same side of the football field, but obviously the Cincinnati Bengals believe it can be done. With the addition of TO they had two of the biggest egos in football vying for playing and camera time. Last year TO behaved himself in Buffalo but he also had a somewhat lackluster season. Owens is more of an issue when he does catch the ball and at 36 he is approaching the backside of his career, and his grasp for glory is reaching the point of desperation. Sportswriter Jay Marriotti said “It will be comical enough watching them demand the football, leaving one to pout when the other guy is getting more touches or the other to mope when he isn’t catching the winning touchdown pass. But if we’ve learned anything through the years from these hopeless attention hogs, it’s that they’re entertainers first who inevitably will vie to have the most Twitter followers, pull off the more discussed end-zone stunts and, frighteningly enough, attract the higher ratings in their back-to-back reality shows on VH1.” Well said. Tell me what you think. Are they gifted athletes or just glory hounds?

Are Paula White and Benny Hinn An Item?

The National Enquirer is reporting that televangelists Paula White and Benny Hinn are romantically involved. In their August 2^nd issue they include pictures of them holding hands while in Rome. Both of them have denied the affair, but in light of the John Edwards scandal and the fact that the National Enquirer exposed the affair we can no longer simply dismiss this publication.  White is twice-divorced, but Hinn is not yet divorced. “Both Hinn and White said they were in Italy to meet with Vatican officials, traveling independently for respective ministry duties. However, White said, “We were never alone and were in the constant company of staff and other associates.”* “Hinn’s and White’s organizations, along with four others, remain under investigation by Sen. Charles Grassley(R), whose Senate finance committee is trying to determine whether they’ve complied with rules set by the Internal Revenue Service for nonprofit organizations.”* The real issue here is how are they spending the money that the faithful donate every week. Both of them are passionate speakers with followers that love them and make sacrificial gifts to support their respective movements and they don’t want their donations used for romantic interludes. At this point nothing has been proven, but it is definitely worthy of investigation because when you are supported by the public dollars that public is entitled to some answers.

Why does Dallas Cowboy Dez Bryant Refuse to Honor Tradition?

NFL rookies carry water, pads, buy dinner they pretty much do whatever the veterans tell them, but not Dez Bryant. He has refused to carry the pads for veteran Roy Williams. This kind of hazing is the norm within the league. So why is the rookie brizzling at doing it? Bryant who has not played one down of NFL ball has already had his share of problems. ”First came the suspension from Oklahoma State followed by his slide in the draft. Then came the stories of his revealing his father to be a pimp in pre-draft talks which led to comments about his mother followed by stories of her arrest charges. Now it has come out that Bryant already lost an endorsement deal with Under Armour.”* So one might think he would not want to bring any more negative attention to himself. My question is what do you think. Should this practice be outlawed by league or is this just playing your dues? Is he simply being another spoiled athlete who has no real respect for the game and its traditions?

President Obama to appear on The View…Does this diminish the Presidency?

Whoopi Goldberg announced yesterday on The View that President Obama will be their special guest on Thursday. Today on Morning Joe MSNBC correspondent Pat Buchanan said that this visit “diminishes the presidency.” He went on to say what is next will the president appear with “Lady Gaga to get the youth vote”? It is no surprise that Buchanan would look on this negatively since he is on record as being an opponent of the president, but let’s explore his point. Buchanan worked for President Nixon so he is old school and he tends to compare things to his White House glory days. This is a new day and people who might not look at the network news do look at The View. By appearing on the show the president gets to speak to people that might not watch a press conference. The other point is the ladies of The View are not afraid to ask tough questions. The president will not be served tea and toast and asked to comment on fashion. The View might be a visually relaxed atmosphere, but on Thursday I am expecting to hear tough questions asked and I hope the president is prepared to answer them.

Is this Racial Unity: Andrew Breitbart and Michael Steele to Headline RNC Fundraiser next Month?

The Republican Party says it does not condone the racist elements of the Tea party. So why would they have Andrew Breibart headlining a major fundraiser next month? We all know last week there were many mistakes made in the handling of the Shirley Sherrod case, but one thing we know for sure is the person that started the firestorm: Andrew Breitbart. He is the only person that has not apologized for his involvement. He meant to start a war and he did. So how can the Republicans invite him to headline their event and still claim to want to appeal to minorities? The answer is Breitbart excites the base and they are the ones that attend GOP fundraisers so they could really care less what others think. It’s their party and from the looks of things they want to keep it that way.
