Glenn Beck Mocks the President’s Daughter and then Issues An Apology…What’s New

I once heard Glenn Beck tell a story that actually humanized him to me. He told a story of being at a play and seeing the star of the Sopranos, James Gandolfini. He was excited to meet the star. Beck had his daughter with him at the time. He said when he went to the star Gandolfini said “so the devil actually goes to plays”. Beck said he was hurt that the star would insult him in front of his child, but this week Beck took pleasure in insulting President Obama’s daughter Malia. In a press conference this week the president said his daughter asked him if “he filled the hole yet”, in reference to the oil spill. Beck said “Is that’s their — that’s the level of their education, that they’re coming to — they’re coming to daddy and saying ‘Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?’” Plug the hole!” Later in the 4-minute segment, Beck turned the routine toward Obama’s race. “Why do you hate black people so much?” he said, still imitating Malia in a baby voice. “I’m part white, honey,” Gray responded in the voice of the president.”* Keep in mind Beck is the same guy that has chastised how the media has covered the family of Sarah Palin, and he has said political families should be off limits, but he has attacked Obama’s daughters. Since his antics have been criticized he has issued the obligatory apology. Beck apologized on his website. He said “I broke my own rule about leaving kids out of political debates. The children of public figures should be left on the sidelines. It was a stupid mistake and I apologize — and as a dad I should have known better.” It was not only stupid it was mean, and now I think Gandolfini had it right.

Glenn Beck and others like him are in a state of panic. A Black man is running the “free world” and it is feeling very threatening to so many people. But the attacks are so lame and in this way disturbing. He cannot attack the President’s IQ. That would be really ridiculous since that has already been so well-established. So, you attack his children. Malia is a young child and most young chidren of her age would frame a question in this way. Really sad.

Great comment! She is only a child and I found nothing ridiculous about her question. Beck can’t put himself on the President’s level…nor Malia’s.

Yes, keep thinking this is all about race. It will keep liberals from realizing that it is their well-intended but ill-conceived agenda that is the REAL reasons Americans are fed up with this administration. When Pelosi loses her majority in the House, when Reed is sent packing, will THAT be all about race?

Awe, that’s mean! It’s not the kids’ fault their Dad is The Manchurian Candidate. Tsk, tsk, Mr. Beck.

No EM, neither Gandolfini nor Beck were in the right. Kids should generally be off limits and you do not demean a parent in front of their child. The difference between the two is, I’m willing to bet that Gandolfini didn’t apologize for HIS comments. While both are flawed–as are we all–which one is the better man? Which one recognized he was out of line and admitted it?

Gandofini inferred an opinion on Beck. Beck not only mocked an innocent little girl, but called her intelligence into question, then once again inferred that Obama is a racist (although i thought he was racist against whites and hated his white side, now i guess he has flipped the script. Its hard to keep up with asinine comments this man says), once again bringing race into the equation, in which many Republican zealots, swears “liberal” like to bring up.

I mean hes walking hypocrite. Thats why he was out of line, his constant hate mongering, propaganda, baseless attacks, unbelievable blasphemy, amazing narcissism, and complete insincerity.

Giving ones opinion is one thing, one thing Gandofini did, in an admitted, mocking way. But Glenn berated a little girl and broke every standard he demands from other people once again. Why should be given slack for stating the obvious? He hasnt learned yet that what he says is usually wrong and unwarranted. And will continue until he is taken off the air for good.

Gandolfini did come back and apologize to Beck for his statement and he, Beck commented on that.

I’m amazed. Did he apologize before or AFTER Beck called him out about it on his show?
