Obama the Risky Choice, but the Right Choice

Americans regard Senator John McCain as the safe choice. Barack Obama is regarded as the risky choice, but as we look at our economy, the war in Iraq, the cost of living it is the time to take a risk. People are seemingly more comfortable with the devil they know versus the devil they don’t. Throughout the campaign Obama has been criticized for not going to the war zone. The McCain campaign instituted a countdown that showed the number of days it had been since Obama had last visited Iraq. Over the past week we have witnessed Obama visit the war zones, parts of the Middle East and Europe, but all week McCain and his crew have criticized every facet of Obama’s visit. The McCain crew even criticized Obama’s statement after he visited the Holocaust Memorial. This hypercritical attitude that McCain has shown has made him look and sound like a grumpy old man. Yesterday 200,000 Germans came to hear Obama speak and the media and McCain have both found fault in this. McCain appearing at two German resteraunts in Ohio mocked the turnout and said he rather give a speech in Germany as president and not as a nominee. Let’s get serious 200,000 people would not come out to see McCain if he was passing out money. It has been a historic week for the Obama team, but what reamins to be seen is how will this visit help the campaign? Screaming crowds in Europe are impressive, but they can’t vote in November.

Personally I think McCain is the real risk. The stakes are too high right now in so many ways and he’ll take us further down the wrong road. Gamble on Obama, but if we bet on McCain we’ll all lose.
