Phil Gramm is Back on the Straight Talk Express
Phil Gramm who called us a “nation of whiners” is back on the McCain team. He said “We have sort of become a nation of whiners. You just hear this constant whining, complaining about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline.” He has apologized to the candidate and all is right with the world. He will continue to be an advisor and a surrogate. John McCain is loyal to his friend and Phil Gramm has been a friend and a supporter. The bigger issue is what Gramm said and his feeling about the suffering of Americans. Even though he is a friend is this a man that should be helping formulate economic policy? Last week McCain was distancing himself from Gramm, but this week they are back on the same page. I guess the lesson in this is you can think it, but don’t say it and everything will be just fine. UPDATE: Phil Gramm stepped down Friday (evening) 7/18 as co-chair of McCain’s campaign. He claims he does not want to be a distraction to the campaign.
