Cindy McCain is No Laura Bush
When Good Morning America asked Mrs. Bush about Michelle Obama’s comments about being proud of her country she simply said I believe she was saying that she was very proud. The current first lady did not look at it as an anti-American or unpatriotic remark. She advised Mrs. Obama to be more careful and that truly showed grace and class. On Good Morning America Cindy McCain took the opportunity to re-introduce the issue, I don’t know why she said what she said, all I know is that I have always been proud of my country.” Mrs. Obama has addressed this issue on a number of occasions, but this is a Republican talking point. I used to believe this attack on Michelle Obama was coming from the radical wing of the Republican Party, but when you hear the candidate’s wife say it you know this is sanctioned by the Republican candidate. Mrs. McCain has a lot of skeletons in her own closet, but the Obama campaign has not pulled them out, but Cindy McCain would be wise to remember the old saying, “if you live in a glass house you should not throw stones.”
It’s all going to backfire on them. Even Huckabee (who uttered that unforgiveable slam at Obama when speaking to the NRA) came out yesterday and said the Republicans cannot demonize the Obamas. People will learn what an incredible person Michelle is and the Republicans - including McCain and his wife - are going to look like a bunch of thugs. They’re only adding nails into their own coffins. And you’re right about Cindy. Does she really want people to start attacking her on her past behavior, etc.? One of the reasons I became so impressed with Obama in the primary season was his continual ability to take the high road when all kinds of shit was being slung at him. I predict a landslide victory in November.
